2025 Spring Season Update

1. Update:
   With the new year upon us, we have begun planning for the 2025 GCBHL Season, and this year we have the additional task of organizing the 2025 Ball Hockey Alberta Youth Provincials Tournament.
   
   
2. As mentioned in our previous update, the adult and youth ball hockey sanctioning bodies in Alberta have voted to merge into one association and will hold the first general meeting on January 25 where a new Board of Directors will be selected. If you are interested in putting your name forward for consideration, please submit a cover letter, sports resume, and letter of support from your league to admin@albertaminorballhockey.com no later than January 18th, 2025.  Please reach out to any board member for the letter of support if you are interested.
   
   
3. As GCBHL continues to increase registration numbers, we are looking to employ a League Manager for day-to-day operations. If you are interested in this position, please email us a gascityballhockey@gmail.com in confidence.
   
   
4. For the first time in recent memory, we will hold an GCBHL AGM at the Hockey Hounds Social Room on Wednesday February 5 at 6:30 pm.
   We hope to introduce our new manager and invite parents to join our board, either as voting executives or members at large.
   
   A few of the roles that we are looking for help with are
    - Division liaisons
    - Coaching support
    - Sponsorship
    - Social Media
    - Equipment
   
   
5. As hosts of this year’s Provincials we will also need several volunteers to prepare for the tournament.
   We hope to put on more than just a tournament - this will be an Event!
   It will be a challenge to top Edmonton last season but with the right people and ideas we can make this tournament a great experience for all visitors to Medicine Hat.

     - February 7 (Friday) - Official opening of registration
     - March 24-27 - Evaluations
     - Friday March 28 - End of registration
     - March 30 (Sunday) - Team selection (Coaches draft)
     - April 5 - Opening weekend
     - April 19-20 - Easter weekend - no games
     - April 21-May 2 - Provincials evaluations & tryouts
     - May 5 - Provincials teams announced
     - May 13 - start provincials teams practices (1-2 slots per week)
     - May 17-18 - May Long weekend - no games
     - June 10 - start league playoffs
     - June 21/22 - Championship weekend
     - June 24 - Barbeque
     - June 27-30 - BHA Youth Provincials hosted by GCBHL - Medicine Hat
     - July 8-12 - CBHA Westerns Saskatoon
     - July 29-Aug 2 - CBHA Jr. Nationals Mississauga
