We have a couple exciting announcements for the 2025 season!
- In Alberta, the two governing bodies for Ball Hockey will become one. The Alberta Minor Ball Hockey Association which represents youth leagues across the province will join forces and resources with the adult Wild Rose Ball Hockey Association on January 25th, 2025. The newly formed Ball Hockey Alberta association is seeking volunteers to be elected to form a new Board of Directors. BHA would like to see representation from all corners of the province but at this time, the current GCBHL directors are unable to offer more time to seek one of the new positions. See below for the email from AMBHA/WRBHA for timing and available positions.
- Gas City Ball Hockey League has been awarded the 2025 BHA Youth Provincials tournament to be held in Medicine Hat & Redcliff, starting on June 28 with final games on June 30
- We will be seeking volunteers to sit on a tournament commitee starting in January to put together an event that will challenge last year's in Edmonton.

Wild Rose Ball Hockey Association (WRBHA) and Alberta Minor Ball Hockey Association (AMBHA) are excited to announce that both organizations have ratified a merger agreement effective January 25th, 2025. With the blessing of our parent organization the Canadian Ball Hockey Association, unified operations of the Association tentatively named Ball Hockey Alberta (BHA) will begin on the 25th of January.
A special meeting has been called for this date to be held in Edmonton, AB to conduct initial business and to elect a new Board of Directors. There are nine positions up for election, and any member of the Association (a member in good standing of either WRBHA or AMBHA) is eligible to run.
The positions are as follows:
President - 1 year term
Treasurer - 1 year term
Vice President (Adults) - 1 year term
Vice President (Womens) - 2 year term
Vice President (Youth - Integrated) - 1 year term
Vice President (Youth - Girls) - 2 year term
Vice President (Membership) - 2 year term
Tournament Director - 1 year term
High Performance Director (Team Alberta) - 2 year term
Members interested in running should submit a cover letter, sports resume, and letter of support from your league to admin@albertaminorballhockey.com no later than January 18th, 2025.
This organization will foster a new era of growth and cooperation for Ball Hockey in Alberta, and we are excited to work with our combined memberships to realize this goal.
